Marks & Spencer released their festive ad in the UK recently, set to Julie London’s version of ‘Fly Me to The Moon’, which follows two fairies named Magic and Sparkle as they clock in for work at the Fairy Factory then fly across the country spreading Christmas joy and making dreams come true with a click of the fingers.
Some extra magic is now added as M&S unveil a new version with Gregory dueting across the decades with the late Julie London, on the same track. Gregory’s part of the duet was recorded just weeks ago, but with today’s studio techniques, has been blended with Julie London’s (recorded in 1963) to sound as if they were sharing the studio. To duet with Julie London is indeed a dream come true for Gregory, in keeping with the advert’s theme:
“I’m so glad to be able to sing with the great Julie London. The magic and fire of music never dies …nor does the spirit of Christmas!” – Gregory Porter
Decca Records and Marks & Spencer have partnered with the Make A Wish charity for the release, allowing the single to continue to make children’s wishes come true beyond the festive period.*
