“It’s beautifully simple – in each episode, I sit down and talk with a close friend of mine, we shoot the breeze about music, life, cars, food, wine, whatever…” – Gregory Porter
This week sees the launch of ‘The Hang’, a brand new podcast series hosted by singing sensation Gregory Porter. At last, not only will the general public be able to listen to Gregory’s warming speaking voice on a weekly basis, they will have the chance to enjoy the musician’s charisma off stage, as well as his inquisitive mind and passion for the various subjects covered in his searching conversations with some of the most fascinating figures from the fields of arts and entertainment.
Over the course of 10 weeks, Porter sits down with such distinguished names as Kamasi Washington, Charlotte Gainsbourg, Amma Asante, Gilles Peterson, Annie Lennox and more. Each episode, available via podcast services, presents an insightful and candid in-depth chat between the musician and one of his talented friends.
The series kicks off on 8th August with Gregory being joined by Hollywood actor and jazz pianist Jeff Goldblum. Gregory and Jeff first met in an airport, bonded over a mutual respect and admiration, then performed together soon after on BBC One’s Graham Norton Show. Here the two men discuss their lives, families, love-making, why people are scared of jazz, and much more.
